Our academy workshops are designed to enhance a stylist’s skills and knowledge and give them additional confidence on completion of the workshop they attend. There are a maximum number of four stylists per group so learning can be tailor made for each individual on the day and all training will take place in our bespoke workshop salon. All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance on the day so full names will need to be submitted prior to the workshop date.

We offer a number of workshops ranging from basic knowledge and skills to more advanced knowledge and skills.  All workshops run from 9.30am-4.30pm.  Booking in advance is recommended.

The workshop cost is £99 per person and if you book 3 places you will get the 4th place free!

All workshops will be held at the academy in Ashford

We are happy to take deposits to secure your places and if a workshop should be cancelled or withdrawn you will receive a full refund or the option to attend the revised date for this workshop. Whilst we appreciate things can happen last minute we would appreciate it if you could let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend so we can offer your place to an alternative attendee. We do require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice of cancellation or we will retain your full booking fee and deposit.

We are happy to offer bespoke training for salons if they request this and price will be on quotation.

WORKSHOPS

ADVANCED CUTTING

This workshop is designed for those stylists that would like to have the understanding of advanced cutting techniques that are used in today’s creative fashion trends. It is also a great workshop for those stylists that are looking for some alternative cutting techniques to incorporate into their everyday cutting and styling services.

It is not essential but would be an advantage if you have some salon cutting experience or have completed a level two qualification in hairdressing to complete this workshop. If you have no prior experience of cutting you may benefit from attending the basic workshop first.

The day will consist of some knowledge and practical hands on experience and we are more than happy if you wish to bring along your own model for this workshop, alternatively we can supply one for you. There will be ample time to ask questions throughout the day and we encourage attendees to come with some ideas of what they would like to learn on the day so their day is maximised and they will leave with the confidence to carry out these ideas independently within their own salon. If you would like to send this information prior to the course we can ensure we give you a more specific workshop experience.

All equipment and products will be provided on the day, all we ask is that you bring your own scissors, clips and combs as these are more personal items. If you wish to bring your own brushes etc please feel free to.

BASIC CUTTING

This workshop is designed for those stylists that are new to the industry and would like to have the understanding of basic cutting techniques that are used in today’s salons. This workshop is also ideal if you have not been in the salon environment for a while and would like to refresh your knowledge, skills and understanding of the basics of cutting hair.

The workshop will cover basic knowledge and skills and will go over how and where to start a cut covering the 4 basic cuts used in hairdressing and how all cuts are derived from them. We will cover angles needed how to follow a cutting pattern, tension and sectioning etc, as well as all the basic elements needed to complete an accurate cutting service with confidence.

This workshop is suitable for those stylists/learners that are new to the industry or are working towards their level 2 qualification.

The day will cover knowledge and skills with the opportunity to bring in your own model for the practical session or we can supply one for you alternatively you can bring a block with you if you do not wish to work on a live model. There will be ample time to ask questions throughout the day and we encourage attendees to come with some ideas of what they would like to learn on the day so their day is maximised and they will leave with the confidence to carry out these skills within their own salon. If you would like to submit this information prior to the course we can ensure we give you a more specific workshop experience.

BASIC COLOUR

This workshop is designed for those stylists that are new to the industry and are working towards their level 2 qualification who wish to re- enforce their colour knowledge and colour placement options. This workshop will also be suitable for those stylists that have maybe been out of a salon environment for a while and wish to refresh their basic colour knowledge.

The work shop will cover elements to include what the numbers and letters mean on the tubes of colours, what depth and tone means how to select colour for clients and how to carry out a colour consultation to name a few. We will also cover pre pigmenting and how to assess under coats and the use of the colour star when colouring client’s hair. Touching on the basic techniques that are used at this level to ensure correct colour placement.

There will be the opportunity to carry out some of the techniques you will learn on blocks in the afternoon session, with the opportunity to cover consultation within the group.

There will be ample time to ask questions throughout the day and we encourage attendees to come with some ideas of what they would like to learn on the day so their day is maximised and they will leave with the confidence to carry these ideas out independently within their own salon. If you would like to submit this information prior to the course we can ensure we give you a more specific workshop experience.

ADVANCED COLOUR

This workshop is for stylists that have salon experience of colouring and wish to gain advance colour skills or for those stylists that have been out of the colouring field and wish to refresh or up skill their knowledge and colour placement skills.

The workshop will cover elements of creative colouring and colour placement to enhance the client’s haircut and total look. We will also touch on the latest colour trends and applications for todays must have fashion looks.

There will be an opportunity to carry out the techniques you wish to learn on the day using blocks or you can bring in your own model. Please bear in mind that a skin test will need to be carried out 48 hours before the workshop by an academy team member and be signed and dated with the models signature to validate, (this is legal requirement)  failure to do this will result in the model not being able to have their hair coloured on the day. We will not acknowledge a skin test carried out away from the academy premises.

There will be ample time to ask questions throughout the day and we encourage attendees to come with some ideas of what they would like to learn on the day so their day is maximised and they will leave with the confidence to carry these ideas out independently within their own salon. BASIC CREATIVE HAIR UP

This workshop is for those stylists that would like sound knowledge and understanding of how to carry out basic hair ups.

The workshop will cover how to carry out consultation and how to pre prepare the hair for styling and dressing, how to choose the right tools and equipment to achieve the looks wanted.

It will suit anyone who would like to know the basic hair ups to include a traditional vertical roll, curly hair up, barrel curls, the bow effect etc,  how to back comb/brush effectively so it will form the foundation of your hair up, with the understanding of how to secure hair effectively so it will last.

Products will be discussed along with the correct consultation techniques so you can offer alternative options to your client if their requirements cannot be met or they do not have the right hair type.

There will be the opportunity to carry out practical hair up on blocks using various lengths of hair to ensure that all who attend will have confidence working with longer hair also.

There will be ample time to ask questions throughout the day and we encourage attendees to come with some ideas of what they would like to learn on the day so their day is maximised and they will leave with the confidence to carry these out independently within their own salon.
